Have you ever been frustrated when you can't load Smart List members using Data Management? Did you have issues with loading HR data because the accounts are in the columns? Today, I will demonstrate how to easily resolve these issues. Oracle recently added new functionality in the October update to resolve these issues. Now, you have the capability of loading non-numeric value using data management and loading accounts in the columns.

How to load non-numeric data with accounts in the columns?
Go into the PBCS application and launch data management.
Then, Setup -> Target
Application and select the planning application. In the application details, select the application options tab. Change the load method to All data types with security. This setting will allow you to load non-numeric data using data management.
Then, click on import format on the setup panel. Create an import format and define your source and field numbers. The key here is to make sure for your File Type, you select All Data Type. This defines what type of data you are loading. In my example, I selected Multi Column – All Data Type because we will be loading accounts in the columns and non-numeric data.
Once you define your source field number, click on the edit button under Add Expression for Data Source Column. Select Driver as the Expression Type. The screen below should appear. Now you will define your Dimension, Header Row, and Columns. Since I will be loading accounts in the columns, I selected Account. My Header Row is the first row in my source file. The accounts goes from column 4 to column 7 .
Then, go the workflow tab and click on Data Load Rule. Create a data load rule and execute the data load rule. In this example, I created Data Load Test rule for this demonstration.
If you get a green check mark, then your data got loaded successfully. You can check the data in Data load workspace. You can see that in the target data column, non-numeric data got loaded without any issues.
Validate the Data
Now, let’s validate the data in a form to make sure everything got loaded correctly. Here I created a form to validate the data that we just loaded. As you can see, all the non-numeric data got loaded.
