What is Smart Push?
Smart Push is a function that allows you to push data from one plan type to another when saving a form. You have the capability of pushing data, including comments, attachments, and supporting details from BSO plan types to ASO plan types. This process can replace the traditional way of moving data from one plan type to another.

How to setup Smart Push?
First, you need to create an application mapping. To create an application mapping, go to “Administration” -> “Map Reporting Application”.
The “Map Reporting Application” window will open and you can see all of existing mappings. Then, click on the green plus sign to create a new mapping.
Define your “Application Mapping Name”. Select your source plan type and your reporting application (target plan type). In this example, my source plan type is “Main” and my target plan type is “ASOPlan”.
Next is creating your mapping from source to target. The default settings are mapped straight one to one mapping for each dimension at level zero descendants. You can modify based on your requirements. There are three options for mapping type which are not linked, dimension to dimension, and smart list to dimension. In this example, I did a dimension to dimension mapping at level zero descendants.
Once you created your application mapping, you will need to add Smart Push to your form. Go into the form folder and edit a form. Navigate to the “Smart Push” tab and click on the green plus sign. Select the application mapping that you want to use.
By default, “Use Form Context” is checked. However, you can uncheck “Use Form Context” and overwrite the selection on the form. In this example, I am using form context. Make sure you check “Run on Save” to ensure that your Smart Push will run every time you save the form.
Testing Smart Push
To test Smart Push, I created a composite form. The top form is connecting to the BSO plan type (source data) and the bottom form connecting to the ASO plan type. As you could see here, there are data in the BSO form, but no data in the ASO form.
What we are going to do is use Smart Push to move data from the BSO form to the ASO form. To do that I will simply save the form and a message will pop-up telling me that “Smart Push was successful”.
If I review the composite form now, I can see the data move from the BSO form to the ASO form.
Overall, Smart Push is an instant way to move data from one plan type to another without administrators running any process. This is commonly used for end-users where they want to see the data right after they submit the changes. Unlike other methods of moving data, Smart Push is really simple to setup and maintain.
